What Are the Benefits of Spices Board for Exporters ?

 


 There is a leading organization in India, the Spices Board, which is part of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and is responsible for developing and promoting Indian spices around the



world. This Board acts as a link between Indian exporters and the foreign importers. They provide information and support to one another. This Board spearheaded activities spearheaded by the Indian Spice Board for the advancement of the Indian spice industry have involved every segment of the Indian spice industry in some way.


  This board was established on 26th February 1987 under the Spices Board Act 1986 (No. 10 of 1986) after the merger of the erstwhile Cardamom Board and Spices Export Promotion Council, which had existed before that. It is the Spices Board that functions under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, which is one of the five Commodity Boards of the Government. The International Spice Organ is a body with autonomous powers that are responsible for promoting the export of the 52 scheduled spices and developing the cardamom 

 


Purpose :


  1. A study to develop and regulate the domestic marketing of small and large cardamoms was carried out.

  2. Post-harvest improvement of all spices

  3. Promotion of organic production, processing and certification of spices

  4. Development of spices in the North East

  5. Provision of quality evaluation services

  6. Export promotion of all spices through support for:-

                 (I) Technology upgradation.

                    (II) Quality upgradation

                 (III) Brand promotion

                 (IV) Research & product development

 

Additional Responsibilities :


  1.   Quality certification and control

  2.   Registration of exporters

  3.  Collection & documentation of trade information

  4.  Provision of inputs to the Central Government on policy matters relating to import & export of spices

 

Activities Other Than Abilities :


  • Expansion of exports of spices and spice products in the developing world.

  • A quality control system for exports is in place, which ensures that exports are of a high quality.

  • In order to develop more efficient production methods, through scientific, technological and economic research, there has to be development and implementation of new ideas.

  • Scientific agriculture practices guide farmers on how to increase yields and improve quality by using techniques that are scientifically sound.

  • In order to provide financial and material support to growers, we provide the following.

  • Increasing the production of spices on an organic basis and encouraging their exportation.

  • Facilitating the planning, development, and implementation of processing infrastructure.

  • All spice exporters are required to register and obtain a license prior to exporting their products.

  • In order to improve processing practices, improve quality management systems, improve grading methods, and improve packaging techniques, we are assisting with studies and research.

  • The development and presentation of promotional and educational materials in various media to aid in the promotion of the exporting and importing industries.

 

Exporter/Importer Services :


  • Establishes and maintains a direct line of communication between exporters and importers.

  • Determines which competent suppliers are available in order to meet the specific requirements of importers

  • Ensures that all inquiries related to foreign trade are processed and forwarded to reliable exporters.

  • Assists in bringing together Indian exporters and foreign purchasers through participation in major international exhibitions and meetings in order to create a mutually beneficial relationship.

  • Determine the corrective and preventive measures to be taken in response to complaints from importers

  • Leads initiatives to improve the quality of Indian spices, including a quality improvement programmed.

  • Assists exporters and importers to navigate a comprehensive, up-to-date global exporter and importer data base.

  • Through contact group programs organized by the organization, international organizations, exporters and policy makers can come together.

  • Provides India with an opportunity to participate in major international food fairs and of conduct food festivals and cooking demonstrations throughout the world.

 

Advantages of Spice Board Registration:


  1. Provides assistance to exporters and importers for establishing contact with each other.

  2. Finds competent sources of supply to meet the specific demands of importers in order to meet their requirements.

  3. It is responsible for the processing and forwarding of foreign trade inquiries to reliable exporters.

  4. Organize international exhibitions and meetings on a regular basis to provide an opportunity for Indian exporters to interact with international buyers and to establish a common platform for interaction.

  5. In order to correct and prevent problems caused by imports, investigate complaints from importers

  6. Aimed at enhancing the quality of Indian spices by spearheading the quality improvement program.

  7. Develops, maintains, and updates for exporters and importers a comprehensive and up-to-date data bank.

  8. Through a contact group program, a contact group is comprised of international bodies, exporters and policymakers.

  9. Conducts food festivals and cooking demonstrations at major international food fairs in order to enhance India's visibility in them.

Trade Without Spices Board Is Punishment :


  • A prison sentence ranging from six months to one year is possible

  • A fine of up to one thousand rupees can be imposed

Documents Required for Spice Board Registration Certificate:


  • Please complete the prescribed form (Form-1) to apply.

  • Please provide a copy of IE (import-export) code that has been self-attested. Certificate of authenticity.

  • It is necessary to send the registration fee in the form of a crossed Demand Draft in favor of the Spice Board.

  • An original copy of the partnership deed or the Memorandum and Articles of Association as the case may be, self certified by the respective party.

  • Certificates of GST registration that have been self-certified.

  • As part of the self attestation process, a certification issued by the directorate of industries is required for manufacturers and exporters of spices.

  • A copy of the PAN card signed by you and certified by yourself is required.

  • Ensure you have a passport size photo of the CEO or the designated officer of your firm, with a white background.
