Spice Board Registration In India

 


The mission is to develop and promote Indian Spices worldwide under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. Spice exporters can reach out to international importers through the Board. Additionally, the Spices Board drives the achievements of every segment in the Indian Spice industry by promoting excellence.


Indian spices are promoted by the Spices Board, a government regulatory body. A merger of former Cardamom Board 1968 and Spices Export Promotion Council 1960 created this body in 1987. In accordance with the Spices Board Act, 1986, the Board supervises the development and promotion of cardamom and 52 other spices.


A person or entity wishing to involve themselves in or begin a work that includes spices must obtain a certificate from the Board. Under section 11 of the Spice Board Act, 1986, the Board also issues certificates of registration as spice exporters.

Registration with Spice Boards is important : 



Anyone dealing with the export of spices needs a Spice Board registration certificate. In addition, the Spices Board Act, 1986 prohibits a person from beginning or continuing the business of exporting any spice under and under a certificate after it has been passed. As long as he is carrying on the business of exporting spices immediately before the commencement and has applied for this certificate within the said three months."

Registration Documents for Spice Boards :

For obtaining an export certification in India, the following documents are required:


  • The Spices Board [Registration of Exporters] Regulation, 1989 requires applicants to submit Form-I in the prescribed form.


  • Certified copy of the Import-Export [IE] Code Certificate that has been self-attested


  • There will be a fee of $20 to register in the form of a crossed demand draft in the name of "Spice Board and Request."


  • In support of the case, self-certified copies of the Partnership Deed, the Memorandum of Association [MOA] and the Article of Association [AOA], in accordance with the requirements of this case


  • Copies of the applicant's PAN cards with self-attestation


  • The GST Registration Certificate must also be self-certified


  • A self-attested certificate issued by the Directorate of Industries is required for applicants who export manufactured spice products


  • It would be helpful if you could provide a passport-sized photo of your firm's CEO or designated officer.

How to obtain a Certificate of Registration as an Exporter of Spices {CRES}

The following steps will guide you through the process of obtaining your Certificate of Registration as an Exporter of Spices {CRES};


  • A trader should complete and submit the prescribed exporter's form, i.e., Form 1, which is required for applicants who plan to export. Aside from the prescribed fees, the applicant has also to pay the tax payable as applicable by demand draft drawn in favor of Spices Board, Ernakulam (i) Manufacturer Exporter: Rs.15,000/- (ii) Merchant Exporter: Rs.10,000/- In addition to this, the applicant also has to pay the prescribed fees along with the tax payable as applicable


  • It is possible for the board to reject an application if it does not follow the prescribed format or does not contain the required information. In addition to that, the board does not provide a refund for the fees submitted


  • If the applicant has a financial status, a statement or reference from the bank should accompany the application


  • Once everything has been checked, the regulating authority will issue a certificate with exporting in Form A

The Spice board has the following functions:

In order to promote the export of spices from India, the board has a number of responsibilities, which includes;


  • Control & certification


  • Exporters are required to register with the government


  • Collecting and documenting trade information is an integral part of the documentation process


  • Import and export of spices policy inputs to the Central Government

Renewal of CRES

Certificates of registration are valid for three years. The authority needs the Form-1 from anyone who wishes to renew their Certificate as Exporter. In addition, if licenses are not renewed before expiration, it will be liable every month. Fees for renewal are the same as for fresh applications.

Applications after 31st August are not accepted by the issuing authority. In the event that exporters fail to renew their licenses, they must apply for a fresh license/registration.

The renewal of an exporter certificate for the next three years does not apply to exporters who are not engaged in export business during the period when their certificate is valid. The Spices Board can issue a new certificate to such an exporter if he enters into an export contract.
